Welcome to the Institute for NP Excellence
Continuing education for Nurse practitioners (NPs) makes up the majority of INPE's services. Additional projects include the creation of practice resources to help NPs promote patient-centered and evidence-based care. Our programs are designed and delivered by expert NPs.
News from INPE
November: COPD AWARENESS
Take time this month to learn more about resources available on COPD. This time of year, COPD exacerbations are more prominent--placing patients at higher risk. INPE has an educational tool on COPD Exacerbations to help you proactively prepare patients with COPD for potential exacerbation--now and year-round. This material is in the NP Tools and Resources section of this site. We also have an interactive online CE program on COPD. As a member of the Breathe Better Network hosted by NIH and CDC, we invite you to learn more about the resources of this program and our member colleagues.
November: DIABETES AWARENESS
As follow-up to a January 2014 think tank and subsequent NP survey, INPE created a toolkit of diabetes-relevant resources. You'll find the resource under the NP Tools and Resources tab on lefthand menu. We hope you will promote awareness of diabetes risks this month and take the opportunity to learn more about recent updates in the disease. We also have a program on diabetes in our CE Center and invite you to participate in this interactive overview of diabetes. We will be adding focused diabetes topics in the future.
Learn About a New Approach to Shared Decision Making
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has developed the SHARE Approach, a five-step evidence-based process for shared decision making to help clinicians engage patients in their care. AHRQ is offering train-the-trainer workshops for clinicians to learn how to implement the SHARE Approach in their practice with patient decision tools from AHRQ. Workshop participants will receive information tools and guidance to teach other clinicians in their organizations about shared decision making. The first workshop is scheduled January 23, 2015 in St. Louis, MO. To learn more about the workshops and the resources, go to the SHARE Approach website.
